Kitchen re-facing is definitely an art
form. Every kitchen we have done has been unique. With each home
we enter, we measure and cover the side panels, front facing,
doors, drawers, and change all hardware including hinges and
handles. We also add cabinets when requested, change existing
ones, and put in fancy touches like crown molding, gallery rail
on cabinet tops, glass doors, etc. We can change the action of
drawers to allow for smoother riding with new slides and internal
boxes. All sanding and finish work is done in our shop. Most
houses require approximately 2-4 days of installation with minimal
mess in the home. We clean up after ourselves when have completed
the job, leaving nothing for you to do but enjoy your new kitchen.
Kitchen re-facing can add many
thousands of dollars to the value of a home, yet costing you
as little as 1/10th the price of new custom built cabinets.
The first process in re-facing a kitchen
is to come to your home and measure all the openings for the
doors and drawers. We then get the supplies for the facing itself,
which is 1/4" SOLID wood for the face, and 1/4" finish
grade cabinet plywood for the sides and under cabinets (under
cabinet is an option). Our method of using 1/4" solid wood
face is not commonly used. It is a method we invented for longer
more durable use in your kitchen. More common methods for kitchen
re-facing is to use 1/64" veneer, or plywood on the face.
We use the solid wood face method as a way to prevent heat from
loosening up veneer, and to have the capabilities of touching
up in the event of a fair sized scratch, which plywood will not
allow.
Doors and drawer fronts are ordered rather
than custom built in our shop. There are manufacturers across
the country that do nothing but build kitchen cabinets doors
and drawers. This allows us to keep YOUR cost of goods down,
as we can order the highest quality components for your kitchen
at a lower cost than we can make them. When we have ordered and
received the doors and drawer fronts, finish them and apply your
new hardware, we are ready to come into your home. Your entire
kitchen is spray finished before we come into your home to complete
your project.
Once we are in your home, we remove all
the old doors and drawer fronts. We apply all the new sides to
the cabinets, and then apply the new face. We fill all nail holes
(pneumatically nailed for minimal sized holes), and install your
new doors and drawer fronts. That's it! We pick up our mess,
sweep your floors, remove all sawdust from your outside area
(from cutting), throw away all trash, and you can now enjoy your
new kitchen. The cost of your new kitchen re-facing should have
just saved you an enormous amount compared to new custom built
and installed cabinets, yet making your kitchen appear as if
you just had new installed.
